How the Corrupted Gauntlet works

The Gauntlet is a solo minigame in Prifddinas that you unlock after Song of the Elves. You enter through the Gauntlet Portal in the north-west of Prifddinas, and you cannot take any items in — they are stored for the duration. It is a dangerous minigame, so hardcore ironmen lose hardcore status if they die inside.

The dungeon is a 7x7 grid of rooms. You start next to the centre boss room and have 10 minutes to prepare; when the timer runs out you are teleported into the boss room. The Corrupted Gauntlet is the harder version of this same loop — the Corrupted Hunllef has 1000 hitpoints and stronger aggressive stats, and the dungeon is tuned so your prep must be faster and more precise.

The prep loop

Prep is a gathering-and-crafting loop. Resource rooms contain crystal ore (mining), linum tirinum (farming), phren bark (woodcutting), grym leaf (herbs) and fishing spots for raw paddlefish; crystalline monsters drop weapon frames, shards and the materials for the top-tier weapons. Gathering does not require a specific skill level.

You craft three weapon types — the crystal bow (ranged), crystal halberd (melee) and crystal staff (magic) — each in three tiers (basic, attuned, perfected), plus helm, body and legs armour. The Hunllef uses protection prayers, so you need at least two different weapon types and must switch between them as it changes its attack style.

The Hunllef fight

The Crystalline Hunllef uses all three combat styles and cycles through them; it also uses protection prayers against whatever style you are attacking with, which is why you need the two-weapon switch. You have to swap your own prayer to match the style it is about to use and swap weapons when its prayer changes.

The fight adds floor tiles that damage you, and in the Corrupted version the Hunllef's max hits are higher across the board. Movement discipline matters: keep moving between attacks, watch the telegraphs, and use the space to avoid the specials while you DPS. There are Combat Achievement tiers for speed and no-damage kills.

Loot and GP value

The Gauntlet's loot is crystal-focused. The crystal weapon seed and crystal armour seed both roll at 1/50, and the enhanced crystal weapon seed — the big prize, used for the Blade of Saeldor and the Bow of Faerdhinen — rolls at 1/400 in the normal Gauntlet. You also get crystal shards every completion, which power the crystal equipment.

The wiki's money making guide for the Corrupted Gauntlet estimates 703,004 GP per hour at 6 completions per hour (shard value assumes using them for divine super combat potions). The Corrupted version has the better unique rates, which is why it is the preferred farming mode once you can complete it consistently.

Gear and progression tips

There is no gear requirement beyond what you make inside, but your real-world levels matter: higher Ranged/Magic/Melee and a decent Defence stat make the Hunllef fight much more forgiving. Learn the room layout patterns and set an order: hit the boss-adjacent rooms first for guaranteed resources, then expand outward.
