What is The Fractured Archive raid?

The Fractured Archive is the upcoming fourth raid in Old School RuneScape. The August 2026 rewards poll blog describes a lobby area where players can mine Ascension Shards during downtime, and confirms that Nex's Crush defence will be lowered to make room for the new reward set. Reward polls are OSRS's standard gate: the concepts that pass become the implementation target, and the exact numbers can still change during development.

Magic and melee rewards: Fragments, Zorya's Tome, The Breaker

Elemental Fragments are untradeable consumables that permanently increase the max hit of elemental spells by +2 per element. Zorya's Tome is a two-handed Magic weapon whose special attack rolls at 150% accuracy and 60% damage, then buffs the next three attacks to fire at 2-tick speed with the same bonuses — a burst-window design rather than a passive stat stick.

The Breaker is the raid's Crush melee mega-rare. It has 1-tile range and can hit up to three targets in a line. Its signature mechanic is repeated damage rolls: two rolls by default, three rolls against the second-weakest-to-Crush defence profile, and four rolls against Crush-weak enemies. It requires runes and Ascension Shards to charge. Players also rank three visual concepts for it: TzHaar-Ket Breaker, Titanic Breaker and The Obligator.

Zeal is the headline Prayer reward: an upgrade over Piety requiring 84 Prayer, 75 Attack and 75 Strength. It provides +25% Attack, +28% Strength and +25% Defence at the same prayer drain rate as Piety. Because prayer upgrades affect every melee account simultaneously, Zeal is the reward with the broadest account-level impact if it passes.

The Rondache shield and defensive value

The Rondache is a shield with +2 flat armour and magic resist that stores mitigated damage as charges. Those charges fuel an instant Shield Bash special attack that can be used alongside a mainhand weapon. The design gives the shield both a passive defensive identity and an active damage spend, which is a different shape from existing defensive shields.

What to watch if the poll passes

If these rewards pass, the interesting follow-up questions are economic, not statistical. Ascension Crossbows positioned against the Toxic Blowpipe role affect demand for Blowpipe supplies. Ascension Shards as ammo input create a raid-internal resource loop. The Breaker's rune-and-shard charging cost sets its ongoing expense. None of those numbers can be estimated responsibly before drop rates, shard quantities and the live raid meta exist, so this page deliberately stops at the poll text.
